Rubber Band Shopping

It’s the here and now that serves as salvation from our darkest thoughts, emotions, and anxieties. I’ve been doing some light research on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and find its parallels in Buddhism, overwhelming practicality, and organic approach to addressing psychological stresses very refreshing. It appears I’m going rubber band shopping today. Yep, gonna be one of those dudes adorning a CBT bracelet poised to snap myself back into the present whenever my mind or emotions drift into those thoughts that currently cause anxiety, stress, and could lead to ‘depressionesque’ tendencies. This is an experiment in being mindful of the present more than self-therapy. I’m starting to feel that I’ve satisfactorily felt that which I needed. Time to move on to another phase that trains myself to let go of those pointless wanderings down thorny paths and “wake myself” with a sharp pain back to the pleasant dream we call the present moment. Of course, I do love anything that combines self-examination, introspection, and the stationary aisle.
