You’re not as good as you think

Despite having to disassemble a pedal board and take it to San Jose today, the piano has opened my spiritual options tremendously in the past 24hrs. I cannot overstate the joy and benefits this instrument is bringing into my path. Though I do already play, I’ve started from zero. I’m taking lessons and running through a conservatory method. My goals are clear, my path has been set before me by countless thousands, and the teachers are centuries old. This structure is aligned perfectly with my lifestyle.
In 2 days of running the C Major scale I’ve begun to see the following benefits unfold:
- gradual mastery over the body
- developing patience
- concentration & discipline
- listening skills
- you’re not as good as you think
- sacrifice
- simplification
- expressiveness
These are the initial stages of something much bigger and far broader than I anticipated. I remember when I picked up a guitar at a very young age and felt the same connectedness and purpose. Even then I knew that I was dropping my needle into the groove of a record written and cut by someone/thing larger than all of us. I really, really like where this is going and especially how I feel.
