What the heck is Five Gallon Sound, anyway?
Five Gallon Sound is the brainchild of Corey Coates, a musician born and reared in Listowel, Ontario, Canada. Since its inception in 2004 this production company and its divisions have enjoyed years of music recording/production, music instruction, radio advertisement creation, editing services, podcasting, and more. Five Gallon Sound is proud to continue providing professional audio services to a wide client base both at home and abroad. With physical studio locations in both Canada and Costa Rica, this company has been a valuable partner providing audio production solutions for many recording artists, radio stations, and small companies alike. Please find below a few brief biographies of our talented tribe.
Corey Coates
Corey started his ever-winding path as a professional guitarist, touring and recording throughout Canada with a long list of prolific (and not so prolific) artists, bands, and singer/songwriters. At 26, he retired from the road and began a lucrative teaching practice and project recording studio. He moved to Costa Rica in 2006 to embark on a different path teaching English as a second language with Swiss based company, inlingua. Since then, his travels and work have taken him to a plethora of exotic locations in South and Central America. Corey continues to work in music and radio production, is a freelance writer and radio host, and is, of course, the Grand Poobah of the Five Gallon Empire.
